What do you do when you feel stressed? Here’s what I did.

🎶 “Listen to your heart.” -Roxette 🎶 Okay, maybe a little hokey, but not totally inaccurate! LOL.

The last couple of days have taken a toll on my energy. Stress and overwhelm abound. The blessing in the mess? I was able to recognize that I was in a place of overwhelm and stress. Y’all, that alone (recognizing) has been a journey, the process of removing myself from the noise to see my situation more clearly.

A quote I saw yesterday posted by The Female Lead: "When you can’t control what’s happening, challenge yourself to control how you respond to what’s happening. That’s where your power is." -Unknown. This quote is truth. And it reflects the need to find yourself within the noise.

This morning, I decided to reflect on my situation and mindset. Applying what I’ve learned, I named my space, putting my current situation into words. From there, I focused my morning routine on evaluating my space and restoring my high vibe energy levels, clearing out the low vibe negativity. And this is how I did it:

  1. I did a 13-minute meditation to clear myself of pent up negative energy; acknowledging the presence of baggage from the past, worries of present, and anxiousness about the future. I had to name what was weighing me down and then choose to release it, to set it down. It’s heavy, why carry it?

  2. I then journaled about my situation and how I’ve been reacting and feeling, naming my behaviors and emotions. This helps to take the power from the story and restore it within me, pulling my energy into my current reality.

  3. Lastly, I pulled a Tarot card asking, “What message am I best served to consider now and throughout my day?” Y’all. I got the Eight of Swords Reversed. Its message? This is a card about releasing negative thoughts and gaining new perspective. Hellllooooo accuracy. Intuitive messaging to further solidify my thoughts and feelings.

Looking at that in a list format, I guess you could call it a “1-2-3 punch” to my mindset. I had to slow down. I had to remove myself from the roller coaster and gain perspective of where I stood. Not where I had been or was going to be, but where I was in my moment. My morning routine reinforced my intention of processing and clearing the negative energy. It allowed for me to start telling myself a different story that wasn’t laden with words like “stress” and “overwhelm.” That 1-2-3 punch gave way for my intuitive spaces to gain clarity and redirect me on my path.

So, I found a better mindset, awesome! What next? In my mindful, productive, and optimistic state, I created a few action items for my day. Looking ahead, I made a shortlist of activities that would help me to carry my high vibe energy forward, to help keep me centered.

Why am I telling you all of this? Because, this practice of naming my space and creating intention helped me to FEEL BETTER. I venture to guess that you, too, want to feel better, yeah? I’ll say, this process works. But, it’s important to note, it works for me. What works for you?
