On the topic of Tarot: Stalkers

--On the topic of Tarot is a blog series written to help familiarize you with the world of Tarot. If you ever have any questions about these topics, reach out!--

Stalkers. Creepy. Amiright? In Tarot though, they’re less creepy. Don’t get me wrong, they’re definitely creepers, just not creepy.

A stalker in Tarot is a card that continues to show its face. Repeatedly and noticeably. For example, nearly every morning I pull a card (or a few) for my day. Occasionally, a certain card will continue to show its face throughout the week. Or even throughout different unrelated spreads in a relatively short amount of time. This, my friends, is a stalker.

Why does it keep showing up?! That’s what you first exclaim when this occurs. There are a couple of reasons. Firstly, but less primarily, it could be that you are simply in the midst of the message of that card. The energy is thick and you’re making your way through.

Secondly, and more commonly, the message of the card is being missed. When interpreting Tarot (especially for oneself) an answer can feel quick and certain, causing the reader to move by the card too quickly. A stalker ensures that the reader continues to contemplate the message that the card has to deliver. So, if the message was initially missed, how on Earth does one finally understand it? You know I’m gonna tell ya, that’s how this goes. ;)

In my Tarot beginnings, I stumbled upon a Tarot Card Stalker Spread from Biddy Tarot. And oooooh am I glad I did. I have used it many times. And as many times as I’ve used it, I’ve recommended it to fellow readers. Timely topic, too, as I used it last week on a stalker of mine.

The Three of Pentacles (pictured) kept showing its gorgeous face. And I kept making my quick assumption about it and moving on. Until the fourth time, y’all. The fourth time it appeared, I pulled the stalker spread. Holy enlightening. The message of the card, while similar to my interpretation, was actually quite specific to me and my journey. I not only received additional messaging about the card through the spread, but I also physically saw something in the card that I hadn’t noticed before. Tarot is so freaking beautiful, I can hardly.

The bonus of all this, I have adapted the stalker spread to other areas of life. If you have something in your life that keeps showing up, a feeling that persists, a lesson you feel you aren’t learning; those are also stalkers! Endless possibilities. Wait, I think I just turned this into a “Practical Tarot” blog entry. Round and round we go. Xo.
